Senior Applied AI Engineer, AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create and develop agents that streamline actual fund-operations workflows.

• Take ownership of agents from the prototyping phase through to production and ongoing operations post-launch.

• Integrate agents with various services, data models, and authorization systems.

• Construct evaluation layers utilizing real-document test cases, anticipated outputs, CI regression suites, human assessments, and comprehensive success criteria.

• Enhance the accuracy, latency, and cost-effectiveness of agents.

• Oversee the architecture of AI applications, including orchestration, multi-agent design, tool contracts, memory, RAG, MCP, guardrails, approvals, and human-in-the-loop controls.

• Manage production deployments featuring versioned and feature-flagged rollouts, rate limitations, provider fallback, EU regional failover, and observability.

• Streamline document parsing and extraction within the AI Platform team.

• Develop shared evaluation and observability capabilities for other teams.

• Set forth engineering patterns and collaborate with DevX.

• Mentor engineers across various teams on agent and LLM best practices.

• Evaluate the MCP offering and deliver it to initial customers within the first 90 days.

• Create a shared AI workload observability system covering token usage, cost estimates, latency, failures, and retries.

• Publish v1 agent patterns and achieve adoption by at least one team beyond the AI Platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in building production software.

• At least one agent or LLM-powered capability developed end to end and still maintained after launch.

• Significant expertise in orchestration and context engineering, including tool contracts, memory, RAG, and multi-agent design.

• Familiarity with Mastra, ai-sdk, LangGraph, or similar tools.

• Experience integrating agents into a real product and its authorization framework.

• Ability to render non-deterministic systems measurable using real-data test cases, regression suites, and human assessments.

• Practical experience in analyzing traces, diagnosing failure modes, optimizing cost and latency, and managing provider rate limits and fallback strategies.

• Proficient in TypeScript and/or Python.

• Platform-oriented mindset with experience in developing for other engineers.

• Background in fintech, private markets, or another regulated, document-intensive sector is advantageous.

• Experience operating under EU data-residency regulations is a plus.
