
Senior Applications Engineer – West Coast

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with the sales team and clients to identify automation objectives, production limitations, and integration needs.
• Create feasible, implementable solutions utilizing Standard Bots' hardware and develop proofs of concept.
• Produce application notes, sample code, and relevant documentation.
• Visit customer locations to install, program, wire, and commission robotic cells.
• Manage integrations from mechanical arrangement to software setup, encompassing fixtures, I/O, PLC handshakes, safety protocols, testing, and final approval.
• Resolve on-site challenges until systems are functioning properly.
• Educate customer operators and technicians on Standard Bots hardware and software.
• Provide ongoing support to customers after installation and act as a reliable technical resource.
• Represent Standard Bots at industry events and trade shows by creating and conducting live demonstrations.
• Develop and sustain demonstration systems.
• Relay integration insights back to the hardware and software engineering teams.
• Assist the engineering team in testing new features, peripherals, and integrations.
• Proficient with mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
• Over 6 years of practical experience in industrial automation fundamentals.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and ladder logic.
• Understanding of pneumatics.
• Knowledge of DC power systems, including NPN and PNP configurations.
• Experience in robot programming across any platform.
• Competency in Python scripting.
• Proficient in CAD; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience in customer-facing roles, explaining technical integrations to engineers, plant managers, and operations directors.
• Preference for hands-on fieldwork and solution building.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, or ABB is advantageous.
• Familiarity with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation applications is a plus.
• Experience with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling is beneficial.
• Background in manufacturing or production environments is a plus.
