This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the analytics platform roadmap by prioritizing enhancements, architectural decisions, and tool upgrades in collaboration with IT and the Head of Data, Analytics, and AI Solutions.

• Establish and implement platform SLAs, data quality benchmarks, and operational runbooks.

• Act as a technical mentor to Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists.

• Manage the complete data pipeline from ingestion through transformation and delivery into BI tools and data products utilizing our AWS stack (Step Functions, Glue, Snowflake, dbt, Sigma).

• Collaborate with third-party vendors to sustain DataOps infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Oversee pipeline health and ensure prompt resolution of data issues with both providers and consumers.

• Develop and refine an enterprise data model, data dictionary, and business rules that are agnostic across various sources, insurance products, and distributors.

• Enforce Snowflake security best practices such as masking policies, RBAC, and least-privilege access, in alignment with GLBA NPI/NPI-H classification requirements.

• Advocate for data governance, lineage, and quality standards; assist in supporting NAIC MDL-668 audit trails, SOC 2 Type II evidence collection, and compliance with CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and state breach notification requirements.

• Design and maintain systems of record for essential insurance domains (policy, claims, billing, distribution, customer) with accurate versioning, effective dating, and audit trails.

• Manage database design and administration for AI tools and models, including vector databases, feature stores, and model input/output pipelines.

• Create and maintain a semantic layer that facilitates natural language insight discovery.

• Take ownership of executive and operational dashboards, ranging from board-level reporting to daily operations.

• Establish BI development standards for Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists to follow.

• Maintain and improve actuarial data pipelines, including distributed compute and Glue Jobs for data curation.

• Provide guidance on data architecture decisions that support future AI/ML and modeling use cases.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience.

• 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related role, showcasing a clear progression in responsibilities and ownership.

• Practical experience with dbt (data build tool) for transformation, data modeling, and testing at scale.

• Strong expertise in Snowflake, including dynamic data masking, RBAC, performance optimization, and cost governance.

• Hands-on experience with AWS data services such as Glue, Step Functions, S3, and Lambda.

• Advanced SQL skills; Python is necessary at this level (for data pipeline development, scripting, and automation).

• Proven track record of managing a BI delivery roadmap and creating dashboards for both executive and operational audiences.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining enterprise data models and semantic layers in a multi-product, multi-source environment.

• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and best practices for privacy.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).

• Familiarity with data privacy and security compliance frameworks relevant to US life and annuity carriers, including GLBA and NAIC MDL-668.

• Experience in managing or contributing to a technical product or platform roadmap.

• Proven ability to handle competing stakeholder priorities and effectively communicate platform trade-offs to senior leadership.
