This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the strategy and performance of the data warehouse, focusing on modeling standards, materialization strategies, query performance, and optimizing both speed and costs.
• Oversee the Silver and Gold-layer modeling in dbt, ensuring models are clean, documented, tested, and well-governed.
• Merge redundant pre-materialized views, address metric drift, and rectify non-additive measures that may lead to inaccurate re-aggregation.
• Develop and manage the semantic layer as a definitive source for metric definitions.
• Direct the BI tooling strategy and facilitate standardization of the BI stack, empowering reliable self-service analytics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and analysts to convert business inquiries into sustainable models and metrics.
• Set best practices, governance standards, and tools for upstream domain teams.
• Diagnose data quality and consistency challenges, driving root-cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
• Play a role in the evolution of the platform by optimizing, refactoring, and scaling analytics infrastructure.
• Report to the Director of Data and work closely with Data Engineering, Product, Engineering, analysts, and business stakeholders.
• Provide governed metrics, efficient Silver and Gold models, and standardized BI that minimize ad-hoc data pulls and metric conflicts.
• 5-7+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior role.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and data modeling tools such as dbt, Dataform, or SQLMesh.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and medallion/layered architectures.
• Practical experience with at least one cloud data warehouse, such as Snowflake and/or BigQuery.
• Familiarity with performance optimization and cost reduction in data warehouses.
• Experience with semantic or metrics layers, including dbt Semantic Layer/MetricFlow, Cube, or LookML.
• Proven ability to standardize and govern metric definitions.
• Proficiency in modern BI tools like Hex, Sigma, Omni, Tableau, Looker, Metabase, or Lightdash.
• Working knowledge of Python for transformation, tooling, and automation tasks.
• Strong skills in Git and version control practices.
• Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience in fast-paced, moderately sized teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
• Familiarity with iterative, value-driven technical delivery.
• Candidates must reside within the United States.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods at a desk and work on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
