Senior Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the transformation layer by designing, constructing, and managing scalable data models utilizing dbt and SQL for financial reporting and operational metrics.

• Set and uphold best practices for data modeling, development, testing, and monitoring.

• Collaborate with finance, operations, customer success, and marketing teams to gather requirements and provide dependable data products.

• Develop repeatable patterns for integrating data models with BI tools and implementing reverse ETL processes.

• Ensure quality in development through change management, source control, code reviews, and data monitoring.

• Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Users across Alpaca’s data platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering, with a focus on transformation in ELT.

• Demonstrated experience managing data products from start to finish and applying best practices in analytics and data engineering.

• Capability to navigate ambiguity, define requirements with stakeholders, and perform with minimal supervision.

• Experience in enhancing data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency.

• Advanced SQL and dbt expertise.

• Proficient in Python.

• Practical experience in query optimization across OLTP and OLAP systems, such as Postgres and Iceberg.

• Knowledge of semantic-layer modeling, including Cube or dbt Semantic Layer.

• Experience managing CI/CD workflows and establishing standards for version control and code review, such as Git.

• Familiarity with cloud environments, including GCP or AWS.

• Nice to have: experience with Airbyte and Airflow.

• Nice to have: experience in brokerage operations or a passion for financial markets and financial-data modeling.
