Remotery

Senior AI QA Engineer

Posted Jun 21

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Quality Strategy. You are responsible for defining and implementing the testing strategy for every new product and feature within the Wealth Management business line. You don't follow an existing plan — you create one, adapt it, and ensure it performs well in real-world scenarios.

• Promote Automation Where It Counts. You develop and maintain automation frameworks for microservices, APIs, and end-to-end processes. Your aim is to empower your team to be self-sufficient rather than reliant on you for every regression test.

• Oversee Performance Testing. You manage performance testing from start to finish — designing load profiles, scripting scenarios, analyzing results, and collaborating with engineering to resolve issues. You treat performance as a key quality aspect, not merely an afterthought before launch.

• Advocate for Shift-Left Practices. You integrate quality considerations early in the development process. You participate in design reviews asking "how will we test this?" even before any code is written. You bring testing closer to development and shorten feedback loops.

• Monitor, Observe, and Debug. You possess strong instincts regarding monitoring and observability. You know how to interpret logs, track requests through distributed systems, and independently troubleshoot issues without waiting for someone else to provide a root cause.

• Perform Well Under Pressure. You can switch contexts across various projects without losing focus. You handle competing priorities, communicate trade-offs clearly, and deliver consistently, even under a fast-paced environment.

• Influence and Collaborate. You engage with product, engineering, and stakeholder teams. You are proactive — you raise risks early, constructively challenge assumptions, and involve others in the process rather than working in isolation.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in QA, with a proven record of overseeing quality in complex, modern systems — not merely executing someone else's test strategy.

• Strong programming skills. You excel in at least one programming language. While we prefer TypeScript across our stack, solid fundamentals in another language will enable you to learn quickly.

• Expertise in automation for microservices. You have developed and scaled test automation for distributed, service-oriented architectures. You understand contract testing, API testing, and how to maintain fast and reliable test suites.

• Proficiency in performance testing. You have hands-on experience with performance and load testing tools — K6 is preferred, but equivalent expertise with other tools (Gatling, Locust, JMeter) is also acceptable. You know how to create realistic load models and interpret results effectively.

• Familiarity with CI/CD processes. You have integrated test automation into CI/CD pipelines and understand how to maintain green builds and rapid feedback.

• Experience with AWS infrastructure is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools. You are comfortable using tools like Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar — and you utilize them proactively rather than just in crisis situations.

• Strong communication skills and presence. You actively participate in agile ceremonies, product discussions, and cross-team interactions. You are vocal when important insights need to be shared.

• Experience with AI & Agentic Systems. As Chip develops its product with AI-driven personalization and intelligent automation, we increasingly value QA engineers who understand the unique challenges of testing non-deterministic systems. Experience in any of the following is a strong plus:

• Testing agentic AI systems, LLM-powered features, or recommendation engines where outputs are probabilistic rather than fixed.

• Designing validation strategies for non-deterministic behavior — including output quality scoring, assurance testing, guardrail verification, and regression methods that accommodate acceptable variance.

• Evaluating AI model outputs for accuracy, safety, bias, and hallucination. If you have not yet worked with AI systems but are eager, opinionated, and willing to learn — that is important to us as well.

• Nice to have experience in fintech, wealth management, or regulated financial services. Contributions to internal quality guilds, communities of practice, or engineering culture initiatives. Experience mentoring junior QA engineers or developers on testing best practices.
