Senior AI-Native Product Engineer, Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement mobile client architecture for AI-driven conversations on iOS and Android platforms.

• Take ownership of cross-platform architectural choices for the Zillow Instant Messaging (ZIM) core.

• Create real-time, robust messaging experiences that can handle unreliable mobile networks.

• Establish observability standards and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

• Collaborate with AI, Web, and Backend teams to shape Zillow's conversational AI strategy.

• Represent mobile considerations in product and architectural discussions.

• Utilize AI coding agents and assist in setting team standards.

• Enhance testing and delivery speed through unit, snapshot, and UI automation.

• Develop shared tools that are utilized by other teams.

• Mentor engineers working on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Create Zillow's AI-enhanced mobile messaging solution for users navigating the real estate market.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing and deploying native mobile applications at a consumer scale.

• Hands-on experience with both iOS and Android platforms, or extensive expertise in one with proven delivery in the other.

• Proficient in Swift and Kotlin programming languages.

• Comfortable using SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose.

• Experience in building features that utilize real-time or streaming data.

• Skilled in integrating GraphQL clients, including handling caching and cache invalidation.

• Production experience with AI coding agents.

• Experience in overseeing the architecture of a module or platform used by other teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong communication skills with engineers, product managers, and designers.

• Preferred: experience in integrating large language models or generative AI features into consumer mobile applications.

• Preferred: background in messaging, chat, or communication products.

• Preferred: experience with on-device inference or streaming/token-level UI rendering.

• Preferred: proven track record of promoting the adoption of technical standards beyond the immediate team.
