Senior AI Engineer, Location AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland.

📋 Description

• Define product functionalities, measurement frameworks, and evaluation systems for non-deterministic behaviors.

• Develop product hypotheses and validate them using relevant signals.

• Determine accurate results, compile datasets, and manage changes based on regression outcomes.

• Continuously assess APIs, SDKs, data representations, and reference applications from the end-user perspective.

• Identify misuse, integration anti-patterns, and product deficiencies; propose and implement solutions.

• Take ownership of the MVP aligned with an agreed-upon north-star technical design.

• Create data pipelines and tools for ingestion, conflation, entity resolution, quality checks, and both batch and streaming jobs.

• Monitor and assess external datasets, models, benchmarks, published research, and open-source releases.

• Design feedback mechanisms and instrument systems for reproducible failure analysis.

• Establish model-tool boundaries and enhance or construct model harnesses.

• Optimize requests for latency and cost through streaming, partial results, caching, model routing, and prompt structuring.

• Develop internal CLI, MCP, and associated tools; share reusable components.

• Conduct code and design reviews and foster evaluation practices among teammates.

• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, which may include weekends and after-hours responses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience with production ownership of services, pipelines, or SDKs.

• More than 2 years of experience delivering LLM-supported features to actual users in systems with error budgets, on-call rotations, and customer-visible regressions.

• Direct experience or profound understanding of designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems.

• Capability to describe a dataset created and the failure it identified.

• Expertise in data engineering: SQL, at least one distributed processing framework, and experience with pipelines where incorrect records were prioritized over speed.

• Proficiency in tool calling and agent orchestration, encompassing stale context, hallucinated arguments, silent partial successes, and unbounded loops.

• Familiarity with more than one agent harness.

• Strong skills in Python or TypeScript and the ability to read code in other programming languages.

• Experience in diagnosing latency issues within a distributed request path.

• Comfort with ambiguity and the judgment to deliver narrow, effective solutions.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Nice to have: experience with geospatial data, public API or SDK design, MCP or similar tool transports, CI evaluations, automotive/in-vehicle infotainment, CarPlay, Android Auto, voice pipelines, constrained compute/offline/intermittent connectivity, and initial external integrations.
