This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and develop production-level agentic systems; autonomous agents that utilize LLMs to reason, utilize tools, manage context, and orchestrate intricate multi-step workflows on behalf of users.
• Construct scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that facilitate real-time AI inference, conversation state management, and tool execution with robust error handling and recovery mechanisms.
• Architect systems for scalability, creating AI infrastructure that accommodates increasing inference demands, evolving agent complexity, and production reliability standards.
• Develop and oversee RAG pipelines, including embeddings, vector search, and retrieval strategies, to enable knowledge-driven features and contextual AI responses.
• Leverage foundational ML knowledge to guide decisions regarding model selection, fine-tuning, embeddings, and evaluation, understanding when to employ off-the-shelf models versus more tailored solutions.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, DevOps, and QA teams to establish requirements and deliver AI-driven features, guiding the technical direction while engaging the appropriate team members at the right stages.
• Assess emerging agentic frameworks, LLM providers, and AI tools; recommend adoptions that enhance the team’s capabilities.
• Create and document AI engineering standards, addressing reliability, safety, observability, and prompt management, while fostering institutional knowledge as the AI function evolves.
• Uphold engineering excellence by writing clean, well-tested code; conducting comprehensive code reviews; and promoting best practices throughout the team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience designing and developing applications that incorporate agentic systems in production settings.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (Lambda, Bedrock, OpenSearch).
• Proven success in deploying and managing production systems with reliability and observability.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work independently with a high level of ownership, driving projects forward with minimal direct oversight.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and non-technical stakeholders.
