Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• The Senior AI Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operationalizing AI and intelligent automation solutions utilizing Microsoft’s comprehensive technology stack.

• This role encompasses the entire delivery process — from creating rapid low-code solutions in Copilot Studio and Power Platform to developing pro-code agents and models on Azure AI Foundry, selecting the most suitable approach for each challenge, and ensuring safe deployment into production.

• As a senior figure in the AI Digital Lab, this position also involves setting technical direction, enhancing engineering standards, and mentoring team members.

• Oversee the design and implementation of AI and intelligent automation solutions, intentionally balancing low-code (rapid, citizen-extensible) and pro-code (versatile, scalable, deeply integrated) strategies based on specific needs, associated risks, and overall cost of ownership.

• Develop and enhance conversational and agentic experiences utilizing Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, custom engine agents, declarative agents, plugins, and connectors.

• Create intelligent automation and applications through Power Automate, Power Apps, Power Pages, and AI Builder; implement Application Lifecycle Management (solutions, environments, pipelines) and governance.

• Design, refine, ground, and deploy models and agents on Azure AI Foundry (model catalogue, prompt flow, evaluations, agent service), integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search (RAG), and other Azure services via SDKs and APIs.

• Manage the complete lifecycle of enterprise-grade agentic solutions, from design and development to deployment, change management, and promoting user adoption at scale.

• Create robust integrations across Dataverse, Microsoft Graph, APIs, and enterprise data sources; establish grounding and retrieval pipelines to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI solutions.

• Implement CI/CD, evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management for AI workloads, ensuring that solutions are dependable, observable, and consistently enhanced in production.

• Incorporate security, data privacy, fairness, and compliance standards into all solutions, aligning with Capita and regulatory requirements; apply Power Platform and Azure governance/guardrails.

• Establish patterns and reusable assets for the Lab, conduct design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and provide stakeholders with insights on technical feasibility and the balance between low-code and pro-code approaches.

• Enhance the capabilities of the AI Digital Lab by sharing engineering practices, reusable patterns, and actionable guidance that empower colleagues to improve their skills in AI, automation, cloud, and software delivery.

• Apply principles from the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework across AI and automation solutions, ensuring that designs account for reliability, security, operational excellence, performance efficiency, and cost optimization from discovery to production.

• Monitor the rapidly evolving Microsoft AI roadmap (Copilot, Power Platform, Azure AI Foundry) and convert new features into practical, valuable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in delivering AI/intelligent automation solutions to production using both low-code and pro-code Microsoft technologies.

• Familiarity with the Copilot ecosystem — Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility (agents, plugins, connectors).

• Proficiency in Power Platform — Power Automate, Power Apps, AI Builder, Dataverse, and Power Platform ALM/governance.

• Knowledge of Azure AI Foundry and the broader Azure AI stack — Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search/retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.

• Skilled in using vibe coding tools — employing AI-assisted/natural-language development tools to expedite prototyping and delivery.

• Proven track record in the end-to-end deployment and adoption of enterprise-level agentic solutions — experience in evolving agentic AI from concept to production deployment and sustained business integration.

• Strong pro-code engineering capabilities, typically in Python and/or C#/.NET, adhering to solid software engineering practices (version control, testing, CI/CD).

• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps — deployment, monitoring, evaluation, and lifecycle management of AI solutions.

• Background in designing integrations using APIs, Microsoft Graph, and enterprise data sources.

• Understanding of Responsible AI, security, and data governance principles.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; capable of bridging the gap between technical and business audiences.
