This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the development of shared AI components, libraries, and platform capabilities that the entire team utilizes.
• Conceptualize and implement AI-powered product features from start to finish: LLM orchestration, prompt engineering workflows, evaluation, and observability.
• Create and establish CI/CD patterns, deployment pipelines, observability tools, and developer workflows that ensure the deployment of agents to production is both predictable and repeatable.
• Guide the team in adopting AI tooling — coding assistants, agentic development workflows, and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop and enhance the core SaaS platform systems that AI features rely on: high-scale background processing, scalable APIs, ingestion pipelines, search and discovery, and PostgreSQL performance.
• Clearly communicate an engineering vision to your team and stakeholders.
• Foster the growth of the engineers around you. Conduct technical reviews, set best practices, and cultivate an environment where the team can operate swiftly without constant second-guessing.
• Over 7 years of hands-on software development experience, with extensive expertise in at least one modern backend or full-stack language, and a comprehensive understanding of the entire SDLC.
• Knowledge of agentic system design: orchestration, tool usage, memory, retrieval, evaluation, and agent-to-agent communication — with the ability to make sound architectural decisions under real-world constraints.
• Some practical experience with production agentic tools — orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI), LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock), vector databases, and evaluation/observability platforms (LangSmith, PromptLayer).
• Previous experience in developing scalable multi-tenant SaaS applications, preferably using C#, Ruby, Rails, Elixir, Python, or a similar language.
• Proven experience in delivering production, client-facing agentic solutions from start to finish — you've launched agents that real users depend on, tackled challenging operational issues, and iterated from prototype to stable production.
• Strong experience with AWS (or similar on Azure) — comfortable using Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch; capable of designing production-grade cloud-native architectures that are both observable and operationally robust.
• In-depth understanding of SaaS architecture principles — you design systems that others rely on and comprehend the trade-offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability at every layer.
• A successful history of building developer platforms and delivery systems — CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, testing frameworks, and the processes that enable teams to rapidly and safely ship AI features.
• Strong background in background processing systems (Redis-backed job queues, schedulers) and high-scale data pipelines.
• Solid grasp of PostgreSQL schema design and performance optimization.
• Experience in designing and managing production REST APIs (auth, versioning, validation).
• Understanding of Event Driven Development.
• Familiarity with search and discovery systems (full-text, semantic, or vector search).
• Strong awareness of security best practices (auth, data isolation, secrets management).
• A demonstrated AI-first development approach — concrete examples of utilizing LLMs and agentic tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) throughout daily engineering tasks, not just in AI features.
• Experience in government tech, public sector, or another compliance-heavy domain (auditability, data isolation, security reviews) is a plus.
