This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist clients in integrating governance and stewardship into their daily operations.
• Aid in the development of customized data governance programs, encompassing processes, team organization, decision-making rights, and boundaries.
• Create policies and controls to ensure effective execution of data governance.
• Articulate governance concepts in business language while preparing presentations, training materials, and adoption guides.
• Lead data governance working groups and align stakeholders from both business and technology sectors.
• Carry out metadata management tasks, including cataloging, lineage documentation, and stewardship workflows.
• Compose and sustain business rules, definitions, and data quality controls in collaboration with business teams.
• Implement data quality processes such as profiling, monitoring, and issue resolution.
• Assist in the installation, configuration, deployment, and adoption of governance and metadata tools like Collibra, Alation, Atlan, and Purview.
• Mentor client personnel on best practices in data stewardship.
• Provide insights on access controls, privacy, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Work in conjunction with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to integrate governance into workflows, data pipelines, modeling practices, and observability.
• Install and set up metadata/catalog tools within client environments.
• Develop and maintain catalogs featuring technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage information.
• Identify user personas and design experiences tailored to their roles.
• Customize tool user experience, workflows, dashboards, and search functionalities to enhance usability and adoption.
• Over 5 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, and master data management (MDM) roles.
• Practical experience with MDM tools (e.g., Semarchy, Profisee, Informatica, or similar).
• Familiarity with data quality tools and processes (e.g., Talend, Ataccama, or equivalent).
• Excellent communication abilities to facilitate workshops, produce clear business documentation, and present to diverse audiences.
• Capability to define and achieve consensus on definitions, business rules, and data quality controls.
• Understanding of governance operating models and stewardship practices.
• Awareness of privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA and how governance practices aid compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% per month (10 out of 20 business days) as required by clients.
• Preferred: experience in leading or supporting data governance working groups or stewardship councils.
• Preferred: knowledge of data access provisioning, integration patterns, or lineage documentation.
• Preferred: experience in creating adoption materials, training guides, or playbooks for governance initiatives.
• Preferred: previous experience in client-facing consulting roles.
