This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Lead and cultivate the accounting team while taking ownership of the month-end closing process for operational expenses.
• Ensure that operating expenses are recorded accurately, punctually, and in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Oversee three direct reports and manage accounts payable operations across various technology platforms (NetSuite, Ramp, and Navan).
• Assist in the month-end closing process by managing comprehensive analyses of vendor expenses, accrual schedules, prepaids, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
• Prepare and evaluate journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses for balance sheet accounts and operational expenses.
• Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team to implement new accounting guidelines and policies into the closing process.
• Establish and uphold team workflows, desk procedures, and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Oversee the complete accounts payable process: invoice intake and coding, purchase order matching, vendor onboarding, payment processing, and vendor statement reconciliations.
• Manage the corporate card program (Ramp) and corporate travel program (Navan), ensuring policy compliance, reviewing transactions, and serving as the escalation point for employee inquiries.
• Maintain a robust controls environment over accounts payable and the expense closing process, including SOX-relevant controls.
• Support external audits and fulfill other operational requests.
• Document procedures and promote process improvements that enhance closing efficiency and data integrity.
• Over 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with 2-3+ years in a management role.
• CPA (active or eligible).
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including accrual accounting, prepaid assets, fixed asset capitalization (ASC 360), and lease accounting (ASC 842).
• Proficient in NetSuite; experience with Ramp and/or Navan is highly preferred.
• Background in public accounting (Big 4 or regional) with experience in the SaaS or technology sectors is preferred.
