Senior Accountant, US GAAP, Big 4 Required

📋 Description

• Review, validate, and approve financial statements prepared by Bookkeepers.

• Ensure accuracy and consistency across general ledger accounts for various entities and properties.

• Lead and implement monthly close review processes, guaranteeing that deadlines are consistently met.

• Conduct and review intricate reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheets.

• Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve any accounting discrepancies.

• Apply and interpret US GAAP principles across real estate and multi-entity operations.

• Support the transition from outsourced accounting services to internal processes.

• Offer structured, actionable feedback to Bookkeepers to enhance quality and consistency.

• Collaborate closely with the Controller and Accounting Leadership to ensure reporting accuracy.

• Analyze financial data to identify risks, inconsistencies, and breakdowns in processes.

• Assist in designing and enhancing internal controls, workflows, and documentation standards.

• Provide support for audit preparation, reporting review, and compliance as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience at a Big Four firm or in public accounting is essential.

• Strong practical knowledge of US GAAP is required.

• A minimum of 2+ years of experience in an accounting or senior accounting position.

• Proven track record of reviewing and validating financial statements, not just preparing them.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (or an equivalent ERP system, with a strong preference for QuickBooks).

• Strong Excel skills, particularly in reconciliations and financial analysis.

• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Highly organized and deadline-driven with a strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
