• Compile monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc data for indirect tax filings along with supporting documentation across various jurisdictions.
• Prepare and submit indirect tax returns directly through tax authority portals when applicable, while collaborating with external advisors as necessary.
• Assist in transitioning specific straightforward compliance filings in-house when it aligns with quality, efficiency, and cost considerations.
• Reconcile tax data with transaction reports, invoices, source systems, and payment records, and investigate any discrepancies that arise.
• Monitor filing calendars, payment deadlines, and tax payment statuses to ensure timely completion of returns and payments.
• Provide support for tax registrations, tax authority notifications, information requests, and audit-related matters across relevant jurisdictions.
• Keep track of indirect tax developments in assigned regions, summarize practical implications, and maintain internal records of tax changes and compliance actions.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to enhance the quality, consistency, and usability of tax data.
• Assist in tax-related projects throughout the organization, including process enhancements, new market entries, and operational or product changes with tax implications.
• Contribute to the creation and documentation of repeatable processes that will make the Indirect Tax function more scalable over time.
• 3–5 years of experience in tax, accounting, or finance, preferably with some exposure to indirect tax.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to deadline-driven, accuracy-sensitive tasks.
• Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets, with a comfort level for working with large and occasionally imperfect data sets.
• Familiarity with AI platforms.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and the flow of transaction data into tax reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and function effectively in a fast-paced business environment.
• Authentic interest in tax and a curiosity about the practical application of tax regulations.
• Comfort in a dynamic environment where processes are still developing and not entirely structured.
• Experience with international VAT, GST, or sales tax compliance is a plus.
• Background in eCommerce, logistics, fintech, or another cross-border business setting is advantageous.
• Understanding of the indirect tax landscape across the Americas, particularly in Mexico, Canada, and the US is beneficial.
• Experience collaborating with external tax advisors or responding to tax authorities is a plus.
• Proven track record of improving reconciliations, compliance trackers, process documentation, or internal controls is desirable.
