This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Play an essential role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, aiding financial reporting, and providing insightful contributions to enhance our overall tax position.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving processes.
• Collaborate with Finance AI leaders to assess AI opportunities that can expedite efficiencies.
• Prepare quarterly tax provisions utilizing the AETR method, conduct reconciliations of tax balance sheet accounts, quantify uncertain tax positions, and perform financial statement disclosures and related analyses for each legal entity, ensuring adherence to US GAAP.
• Review schedules created by the accounting department that serve as inputs to the provision.
• Assist the Director of Tax and Senior Director of Tax in collaboration with external tax advisors to determine the year-end provision.
• Maintain and reconcile tax-related accounts as part of the accounting closing process.
• Aid in crafting tax accounting memos to document analysis and conclusions for intricate transactions.
• Provide audit support to the accounting team during year-end audits.
• Support the budgeting process and quarterly tax estimate forecasts; prepare comparative analyses and other evaluations.
• Identify, research, and develop recommendations concerning tax positions, accounting issues, and risk management, and present proposals for management approval.
• Prepare and review income tax returns (federal, state, provincial, and local) and ensure the timely filing of all compliance obligations for each legal entity.
• Calculate and prepare estimated tax payments and installments for processing and approval.
• Assist in addressing notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax provision and tax compliance (federal & state/provincial) at a public accounting firm and/or within a corporate tax department.
• CPA designation is strongly preferred, along with a solid technical understanding of US and Canadian income tax laws and regulations (federal, provincial, state, and local).
• Strong technical proficiency in US GAAP tax accounting rules (ASC 740).
• Experience in Estimated Annual Effective Tax Rate (AETR) provision reporting.
• Familiarity with Canadian tax issues is preferred.
• Technological proficiency, particularly in reporting and compliance, including NetSuite and tax compliance software such as OneSource.
• Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, sumifs, v-lookups, and index formulas.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including across different functions.
• Strong communication skills to engage with various stakeholders, showcasing the ability to convey complex tax issues in a clear and understandable manner to both internal and external parties.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
• Experience with Canadian SR&ED and US R&D tax credit claims is a plus.
