
Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota, +1 more state.
• Conduct monthly reporting and analysis on US GAAP results along with related reporting and disclosures, including analysis of fluctuations in business results associated with accounts for month-end close reporting and budget comparison.
• Prepare annual financial statements accompanied by detailed workpapers.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and transactions, including conducting thorough research and drafting position and implementation memos.
• Review contracts and collaborate with the team for necessary implementations.
• Ensure accounting compliance by staying informed on current and proposed US GAAP regulations, recommending new procedures particularly those pertaining to insurance industry standards and revenue recognition.
• Collaborate with external consultants and accounting firms during financial and tax audits, including managing and coordinating audit deliverables.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, developing and executing recommendations to scale effectively.
• Participate in various ad hoc projects, analyses, and finance initiatives as required.
• Assist in managing general ledger and other financial systems.
• Willingness to travel if necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Relevant industry experience or public accounting, CPA certification required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial reporting, public accounting, or audit.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and capability to work with large data sets.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to adjust tone and style for diverse audiences.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and controls is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in preparing US GAAP financial statements.
• Experience in drafting accounting research position papers and developing implementation plans.
• Proven capability to work independently and collaboratively, effectively engaging with and influencing various functional groups across the organization.
• Demonstrates accountability and ownership in problem-solving, delivering high-quality and timely outputs on assignments.
• Comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize effectively.
• Sigma experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, such as Oracle NetSuite, is preferred.
