This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Review a high volume of CapEx and construction-in-progress invoices to ensure accurate coding and capitalization.
• Assess the treatment of capital expenditures versus operating expenses and document accounting decisions.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses for CapEx, fixed assets, and associated accounts.
• Facilitate the month-end close process through timely CapEx postings and the preparation of supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and analyses pertaining to CapEx, CIP, and fixed assets.
• Utilize NetSuite across various subsidiaries, ensuring proper intercompany treatment.
• Analyze extensive datasets, support job costing, and generate reports using advanced Excel techniques.
• Collaborate with operations and finance teams on project specifics, job costing, and project accounting.
• Implement public company controls and reporting standards while aiding in audit requests.
• Recognize opportunities for process enhancements in CapEx accounting, fixed asset management, and the month-end close.
• Leverage data center experience, when applicable, to comprehend project structures, asset categories, and cost drivers.
• 4–8+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
• Extensive CapEx accounting experience and sound judgment regarding capitalization versus operating expenses.
• Experience in reviewing high-volume CapEx and CIP invoices.
• Proficiency in using NetSuite across multiple subsidiaries.
• Familiarity with month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Knowledge of fixed asset accounting, encompassing depreciation, disposals, and transfers.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Background in a large public company environment with knowledge of controls and reporting requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Ability to operate effectively and independently in a fully remote setting.
• CPA designation.
• Experience in public accounting.
• Familiarity with job costing and project accounting.
• Experience in a data center environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across various functions.
