This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and evaluate monthly journal entries and account reconciliations pertaining to payroll and benefits accounts.
• Collaborate closely with Payroll and HR to guarantee the accuracy, completeness, and punctuality of payroll information.
• Analyze payroll reports against the General Ledger and investigate any discrepancies or unusual variances using data-driven and AI-assisted methods.
• Prepare and assess benefits reconciliations, pinpointing and addressing variances across multiple systems.
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes related to payroll and benefits.
• Conduct detailed flux and variance analysis on payroll and compensation-related expenses, utilizing AI tools and advanced analytics to uncover trends, anomalies, and insights.
• Identify and execute process enhancements and automation opportunities within payroll accounting, incorporating AI tools to optimize workflows and improve accuracy.
• Maintain and fortify internal controls over payroll and benefits processes.
• Provide support to the broader accounting team by taking on responsibilities such as prepaids and fixed assets as necessary to balance workloads.
• 5+ years of experience in compensation accounting or a related role, preferably in a high-growth SaaS environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is a plus.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Highly proficient in Excel and at ease with large datasets; experience with AI-enabled tools is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems; familiarity with NetSuite and payroll platforms like ADP is preferred.
• Experience in managing complex benefit reconciliations, including 401K and HSA accounts through platforms such as Fidelity and Navia.
• Strong critical thinking abilities with a proven track record of identifying discrepancies and implementing process improvements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining audit-ready support for all entries.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet stringent month-end deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with HR, Benefits, and Payroll teams.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring current or future employer sponsorship.
