• Prepare routine monthly journal entries under the guidance of the Controller, including accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, corrections, and reclassifications.
• Ensure that entries are accurately coded to the appropriate entity, account, and cost center in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain comprehensive supporting documentation for all journal entries, ensuring clean workpapers that can be reviewed by the Controller or auditors without the need for further explanation.
• Promptly identify and report discrepancies or unusual items to the Controller instead of leaving them unresolved.
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts across all three entities, ensuring they are reconciled, documented, and submitted within the close calendar.
• Reconcile billing and vendor platform activities by matching data exported from the enrollment/billing platform to the general ledger and identifying any variances.
• Monthly reconciliation of vendor statements for key AP vendors, flagging and escalating any discrepancies.
• Assist with claims disbursement reconciliation for self-funded groups as directed by the Controller and the VP of Plan & Payment Integrity.
• Monitor AP and AR workflows, which are primarily automated, by reviewing the exception queue, ensuring timely processing, and escalating items that fall outside of normal parameters.
• Review the AP aging report monthly, identifying invoices that are past their terms and bringing them to the Controller's attention.
• Review the AR aging report monthly, flagging overdue client balances and coordinating with operations as directed.
• Process manual payments or adjustments as necessary, adhering to established approval workflows.
• Maintain accurate and consistent records across all three CWB entities—CWB Holdings, CWB Administrators, and any related entities—while following entity-specific accounting policies.
• Apply appropriate intercompany coding for transactions involving multiple entities and flag any items requiring intercompany elimination entries.
• Adhere strictly to the documented policies and procedures set by the Controller for each entity; raise questions immediately rather than making unsupported judgment calls.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience in a professional environment with direct responsibility for reconciliations and journal entries.
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accrual-basis accounting.
• Experience independently performing bank reconciliations instead of merely reviewing others' work.
• Familiarity with accounting software, with QuickBooks experience preferred; Sage Intacct experience is a bonus.
• Excellent attention to detail and a low tolerance for unresolved items—this individual strives to reconcile to zero, not just 'close enough.'
• Ability to follow written policies and procedures meticulously and to ask questions when clarity is needed, rather than making independent judgment calls that fall outside their scope.
• Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
• Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
• Supportive work environment that values teamwork and collaboration.
