Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for critical components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across various accounting functions.

• Conduct monthly flux and variance analysis, pinpointing key drivers of financial performance and clarifying changes from previous periods.

• Oversee and enhance accounting processes within the general ledger, encompassing revenue, accounts receivable, accruals, intercompany transactions, and other essential accounting domains.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Finance, Partnerships, Legal, and Product to ensure proper accounting practices and efficient workflows.

• Discover opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance accounting operations using technology, AI-enabled tools, and system upgrades.

• Assist in the design and implementation of scalable accounting processes, controls, and documentation to support Mercury's growth.

• Reinforce and uphold internal controls that facilitate accurate financial reporting and operational excellence.

• Aid in external audits and support audit requests, schedules, and necessary documentation.

• Take charge of challenges from identification to implementation, driving improvements that enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.

• BA/BS degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field.

• Experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a blend of both.

• Strong foundation in GAAP accounting principles and a thorough understanding of financial statement impacts.

• Highly detail-oriented with a proven history of delivering accurate, high-quality work.

• A proactive self-starter capable of independently researching issues, developing thoughtful recommendations, and exercising sound judgment.

• Proven ability to enhance processes through automation, technology, system improvements, or workflow optimization.

• Strong analytical capabilities to navigate large volumes of financial data, identify anomalies, reinforce controls, and support decision-making.

• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where processes are being developed, refined, and scaled.

• Effective communicator who collaborates seamlessly across teams.
