Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assist in leading the month-end closing process, which includes preparing journal entries for various transactions such as Investment Entries, Loans, Monthly Accruals, Expense & Revenue Recognition, Equity & Stock, Intercompany Settlement, and Elimination Entries.

• Prepare account reconciliations at month-end, ensuring proper documentation and supporting workpapers are in place.

• Oversee Daily Cash and Suspense Reconciliations, including the investigation and resolution of suspense items.

• Aid in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

• Manage the general ledger, produce financial statements, footnotes, disclosures, and periodic regulatory filings.

• Collaborate with various departments to guarantee the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.

• Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and driving improvements.

• Provide support for External and Internal audit inquiries.

• Conduct variance analyses, emphasizing trends and investigating discrepancies.

• Engage in special projects and new product implementations.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.

• Professional certification (CFM, CMA, or CPA) or an advanced degree.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, ideally within financial services or fintech.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and FDIC/OCC standards.

• Creative problem-solving abilities, skilled in managing multiple projects with competing priorities.

• Excellent organizational skills to ensure timely delivery of work.

• Capability to read and interpret technical research and reports, applying information to specific business scenarios.

• Highly proficient in MS Excel and Word.

• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

• Communicate effectively and promptly in both verbal and written forms with vendors, employees, and other stakeholders.

• Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating a high level of care for clients and their experiences.

• Strong sense of accountability and autonomy in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
