This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Design, develop, and oversee the process for accounting property costs, which includes expense accrual, amortization, property tax liability, and related balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supervise the daily operations of an offshore accounting team.
• Provide direction and review their work related to property tax payments, insurance billing, accrual entries, and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities and implement processes to centralize, eliminate, automate, or outsource activities.
• Collaborate with service providers to outsource established processes and manage ongoing tasks.
• Accountable for the reporting of a specific fund, which includes preparing monthly financial statements, lender reports, compliance reports, and addressing financial implications to the management team and investors.
• Analyze financial data for discrepancies and summarize the financial status.
• Navigate accounting implications and provide accounting guidance to operations, portfolio management, and other cross-functional teams.
• Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
• Partner with internal and external auditors to review processes, implement controls, and ensure compliance.
• Document policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Contribute to special projects for the department and organization as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Over 3 years of accounting experience.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with established competencies in accuracy, organization, and functioning in a high-volume setting.
• Proven ability to support all departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• A combination of Public and Private experience is preferred.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Familiarity with Yardi Voyager is preferred.
• Experience in Real Estate, particularly in rental properties, is preferred.
