Junior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Accurately process vendor invoices, payment runs, and EFT uploads in a timely manner.

• Maintain records for vendors and their banking information — implement payment controls for every transaction.

• Identify anomalies prior to processing — establishing vendor payment controls is a fundamental responsibility.

• Conduct bank reconciliations for multiple accounts on a daily basis and at month-end.

• Liaise with vendors regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies.

• Record fund accounting entries.

• Assist with monthly reconciliations for wealth management accounts.

• Facilitate IFRS-compliant entries for fund structures under the supervision of the Finance Manager.

• Prepare supporting schedules that are audit-ready for fund and corporate audit cycles.

• Create journal entries with the necessary supporting documentation.

• Ensure completion of assigned close checklist items on schedule each month.

• Document processes as you acquire knowledge — if it isn't documented, it doesn't exist.

• Recognize inefficiencies and propose solutions rather than merely pointing them out.

• Assist in audit preparation — including schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor queries.

⛳️ Requirements

• BCom or BBA with a major in accounting or an equivalent qualification.

• Eligible for CPA PEP — please confirm academic prerequisites prior to applying.

• Driven to achieve the CPA designation — this is a requirement of the role.

• Experience with AP or month-end closing from co-op positions or work experience (Assets).

• Familiarity with NetSuite (Assets).

• Background in fund accounting, financial services, or public company settings (Assets).

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel (Assets).
