This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Gathers and evaluates financial data to create journal entries and document business transactions.
• Generates monthly and quarterly operational performance reports.
• Aids the Area Controller in ensuring appropriate internal controls are established, including adherence to company policies and procedures, Sarbanes Oxley, and all other regulatory requirements.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts and statistical information while thoroughly analyzing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policy.
• Assists the Area Controller during the annual budgeting and interim forecasting process and provides support for analytical reviews.
• Facilitates the accounting aspects related to capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements.
• Participates in periodic financial audits, including internal audits, external audits, and peer reviews.
• Offers assistance and responds to information requests from corporate departments (accounting, tax, treasury, IT, HR, sales, environmental compliance, legal, etc.) as well as regional and area field financial management as necessary.
• Experience in accounting.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in MS Excel at an intermediate level.
• Demonstrated initiative to thoroughly research and follow up on non-standard situations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Strong and professional interpersonal communication skills across various levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors.
• Excellent analytical abilities.
• Capacity to efficiently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills with the capability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and efficiently within a team setting.
• Experience with general ledger software and other commonly used industry programs.
• Familiarity with Oracle accounting software and other widely used industry applications.
