This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Act as a dependable daily partner to clients and internal teams, fostering relationships with responsiveness, clarity, and care.
• Assist in strategic communications initiatives, which include: crafting and implementing communications plans.
• Contribute to proactive media, digital, and social media strategies.
• Create messaging, talking points, briefing documents, articles, social media content, LinkedIn posts, newsletters, website text, and client-ready materials.
• Support media outreach, story development, thought leadership initiatives, and communications through owned channels.
• Aid in preparing clients and senior leaders for meetings, events, interviews, digital visibility opportunities, and public engagements.
• Manage specific projects, overseeing timelines, deadlines, next steps, and coordination among team members.
• Staff and assist in managing external events for clients.
• Monitor client requests and ensure prompt follow-up so that inquiries, opportunities, and deliverables are addressed efficiently.
• Use sound judgment to determine when to involve senior team members for guidance, approvals, or issue resolution.
• Collaborate with colleagues to guarantee that work is thoughtful, well-organized, strategically aligned, and delivered with excellence.
• Provide ideas that enhance client impact and contribute to the evolution of Newton Street’s services.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in communications, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, digital communications, social media, nonprofit communications, or a related discipline.
• Required experience in supporting digital and/or social media communications, including social content creation, LinkedIn or executive thought leadership, digital campaigns, analytics and reporting, community engagement, website content, email, or newsletter communications.
• Strong writing and editing capabilities, with the ability to generate clear, polished, and persuasive materials for clients and external audiences.
• Experience in supporting communications programs within a nonprofit organization, communications agency, foundation, social impact organization, policy organization, or private sector company.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities, including the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Comfort in working directly with clients and representing the organization with professionalism, warmth, and confidence.
• Understanding of media, digital communications, external communication trends, and how various channels can further strategic objectives.
• Interest in one or more of Newton Street’s core issue areas, such as global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, climate change, philanthropy, or social impact.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and sound judgment.
• A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach to new challenges.
• Proficiency with technology, remote collaboration, and tools that enhance team efficiency.
