Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage and maintain Chainguard’s technology platforms, including cloud, IAM, and AI.

• Assist in the implementation and upkeep of access controls, identity policies, and authentication/authorization systems.

• Collaborate with senior cloud architects to enhance and monitor cloud infrastructure.

• Contribute to the security of AI/ML pipelines and agentic workflows as they expand throughout the organization.

• Diagnose, automate, and sustain systems utilizing robust IT administration or software engineering capabilities.

• Record processes and aid in the development of runbooks, playbooks, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Adjust to changing priorities and quickly adopt new tools or systems as the organization’s demands evolve.

• Acquire and implement security best practices under the mentorship of senior engineers, with opportunities for specialization over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong IT administration skills and/or a background in software development — this is essential for the role.

• Practical experience in at least one of the following areas: IAM, AI/ML infrastructure, or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

• Familiarity with security concepts or experience is advantageous but not mandatory — we value solid fundamentals and a true desire to progress in security.

• Proficiency in scripting, automation, and a troubleshooting mindset.

• Excellent interpersonal skills — you will be aiding engineers across various teams, so effective communication and collaboration are just as important as technical expertise.

• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and adapt to rapid changes — this is a dynamic, late-stage startup environment.
