Security Captain – Rotational

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• The Remote Security Captain is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and operational support for security services in a remote industrial setting where health, safety, and security take precedence.

• This role, assigned to the Kuparuk oil field, involves supervising security personnel, ensuring adherence to both company and client policies, fostering strong client relationships, and overseeing the effective execution of security operations that safeguard personnel, facilities, equipment, and critical infrastructure.

• Allocate security personnel to their respective posts and patrols while ensuring adequate staffing levels and operational coverage.

• Oversee daily security operations and ensure compliance with client requirements, company policies, post orders, and standard operating procedures.

• Interpret and enforce security policies, procedures, and contractual obligations.

• Cultivate and maintain a comprehensive understanding of operational, staffing, and client requirements while documenting business processes and workforce needs.

• Develop employee work schedules and assess leave requests for approval or denial.

• Maintain regular communication with clients to address security issues, improve service delivery, and nurture positive working relationships.

• Receive, review, investigate, and resolve incident reports, irregularity reports, and other operational documentation.

• Conduct and oversee security-related investigations and recommend corrective measures as necessary.

• Analyze reports concerning property damage, unusual events, safety concerns, and security incidents to determine appropriate responses and corrective actions.

• Coordinate with client representatives, law enforcement, emergency responders, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders as needed.

• Participate in an on-call rotation and address operational issues outside of regular working hours.

• Act as the Incident Commander or work within the Incident Command System (ICS) during emergencies, as deemed appropriate for the nature and scope of the incident.

• Provide transportation services using a variety of vehicles, from standard passenger vehicles to buses and off-road vehicles, as necessary.

• Execute emergency medical responses, including CPR, AED use, basic first aid, and patient movement, within the confines of training and certification.

• Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, or sanitation issues and ensure that appropriate corrective measures are implemented.

• Mentor, coach, and develop security personnel while fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and operational objectives.


⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

• At least two (2) years of post-secondary education is preferred.

• Candidates without post-secondary education must have an additional two (2) years of directly related security, military, or law enforcement experience.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of full-time professional experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is necessary.

• At least five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience in a related field is required.

• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years is required to meet company vehicle insurance policy eligibility.

• The ability to obtain an Alaska Guard License prior to employment is necessary.

• Must secure and maintain a State of Alaska Armed Guard License upon hire.

• Proven ability to develop and deliver position-specific security training and conduct ongoing security training in accordance with contract requirements.

• A working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS); completion of FEMA ICS/NIMS coursework is preferred.

• Must qualify for necessary credentials and certifications, including but not limited to TWIC and ATF Explosives Possessor authorization, as required by the contract.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and contract-specific software is essential.

• Must successfully fulfill all pre-employment requirements, which may include a hair follicle drug screening, physical examination, fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test.

• The ability to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and adhere to remote camp standards, including housekeeping and cleanliness requirements, is required.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build positive working relationships, and communicate effectively with employees, clients, contractors, and public safety agencies.

• Must exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions independently, especially during emergencies and high-pressure situations.

• Capability to stand and/or walk for up to twelve (12) hours per shift and perform duties in remote Arctic weather conditions is necessary.

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English as required by the contract.

• Compliance with all company and client safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements is mandatory.

• The employee is also responsible for all expenses incurred when reporting to the point of hire (Anchorage, AK) for scheduled trips paid for by the company to remote locations.
