This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Model the XBRL Mapping by utilizing the relevant Taxonomy, carefully selecting applicable line item concepts, axis, and members.
• Analyze guidance from the pertinent taxonomy to assess the accuracy of tag selection and ensure that extensions align with the intended purpose of the taxonomy.
• Assign tags to values in the company’s Financial Statements and Notes, Financial Statement Schedules, and any other relevant information that requires tagging with the identified concepts.
• Assess whether values are represented at a specific point in time (Balance Sheet) or over a duration (P&L), and determine if monetary values signify debits or credits.
• Acquire a deep understanding of financial reporting intricacies, encompassing a variety of critical elements such as stock-based compensation, fair value evaluation, derivatives, pensions, income taxes, inventory valuation, investments, property, plant and equipment, comprehensive income, leases, revenue recognition, and the latest accounting standards.
• Stay informed about taxonomies, SEC regulations, emerging XBRL requirements, and accounting practices.
• Map Financial Statements and Notes, along with Financial Statement Schedules, to the appropriate XBRL taxonomy (GAAP, IFRS).
• Review accounting policies, statements, notes, and schedules to grasp the amounts presented and identify the corresponding accounting standards concepts within the appropriate taxonomy.
• Comprehend the industry-specific accounting disclosures relevant to company customers.
• Keep up-to-date with taxonomies, regulations, and changes in accounting standards.
• Remain current on industry trends and updates regarding accounting standards and regulatory requirements, identifying and applying new skills as needed.
• Collaborate with various internal teams, including Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Learning & Development, to enhance company training and standardize changes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Over 2 years of professional experience, with a preference for those who have worked in a CPA firm or financial reporting environment.
• Possession of CPA or CIA certification.
• An undergraduate degree or a comparable combination of education and experience in a related area.
• Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a cooperative and collaborative team environment.
• Strong understanding of and proficiency with SEC and SEDAR reporting requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP (or other applicable accounting standards) and financial reporting.
• Ability to understand and interpret taxonomy structures.
• Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, execution, and consistent follow-through.
• Capacity to accommodate contingencies, prioritize multiple and potentially overlapping customer requirements, and plan filing dates effectively.
• Willingness to travel, with less than 10% travel anticipated for team and corporate meetings, fostering strong relationships and representing the company's interests.
