This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Collaborating with team members across various disciplines and customers to deliver HPC and peripheral Compute at Scale services.
• Deep understanding of industry best practices related to the field.
• Assisting both internal and customer Architecture and Design initiatives.
• Providing support to customers regarding their workflow pipelines, both advisory and hands-on.
• Thoroughly documenting new and existing computational assets.
• Maintaining the flexibility to adapt as engagement scopes evolve.
• Offering support for AWS & GCP Cloud applications, migrations, and modernization efforts.
• Implementing CloudOps / IaC for continuous platform management.
• Setting up and configuring AWS & GCP Cloud infrastructure for new platform developments.
• Ensuring systems comply with the company's security standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Providing transition support for modernized services to operational teams.
• Delivering engineering-level troubleshooting and services restoration for operational issues on supported platforms as they arise.
• Offering training and mentorship to junior team members.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in administering HPC clusters and systems.
• Preferred experience with SLURM and Grid Engine scheduling software.
• More than 5 years of professional experience in Solution Architecture or Cloud Infrastructure Deployment and support.
• 5+ years of professional experience in developing or managing compute solutions for Scientific / Research IT domains, with a preference for Life Sciences.
• Familiarity with POSIT products (Package Manager, Connect, Workbench) from either an end-user or administrator perspective.
• Experience in developing scientific workflows on HPC systems utilizing Nextflow.
• Extensive experience with command-line system administration.
• Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, and SMB.
• Installation experience with Linux operating systems and fine-tuning.
• Familiarity with leveraging and maintaining Linux package management systems.
• Intermediate knowledge of OS-level networking.
• Preferred experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Cloud Formation.
• Experience in administering and integrating Scientific / Research applications.
• Strong time management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proactive problem-solving skills to identify potential issues and solutions before they arise.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to comprehend and analyze complex technical problems and situations.
• Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
