Scholarly Communications Manager, Open Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Advocate for the open science initiatives of APA Journals.

• Collaborate closely with the APA Open Science and Methodology Expert Panel.

• Support the APA Read & Publish agreements.

• Create community-building, analytical, and programmatic initiatives within the library community.

• Partner with stakeholders from Author Marketing, Library Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Journals Editorial.

• Evaluate market and customer data to enhance outreach strategies.

• Develop practical resources to assist stakeholders in understanding and adopting APA open science practices.

• Provide support to stakeholders and create user materials related to Open Access agreements.

• Monitor and report on key performance indicators.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Psychology, Business Administration, or related fields.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic libraries, academic library consortia, or publishing marketing.

• Required working knowledge of the Open Science movement in research and the Open Access journal publication landscape.

• Preferred strategic insight into the challenges affecting scholarly publishing and scholarly communication.

• Strong organizational skills are essential.

• Preferred relationship management abilities.

• Demonstrated experience in creating promotional campaigns and copywriting is preferred.

• Proficient analytical and mathematical capabilities.

• Ability to effectively present to both internal and external groups.

• Understanding of the needs of diverse stakeholders, including authors, librarians, university faculty, and the scholarly community.
