SAP Hazmat Functional SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Act as a functional subject matter expert for SAP HAZMAT and Dangerous Goods-related business processes within SAP S/4HANA.

• Assess customer and program needs regarding hazardous material identification, classification, storage, handling, movement, transportation, and reporting.

• Assist in the configuration and functional design of SAP features utilized to manage hazardous and regulated materials.

• Maintain and verify HAZMAT-related master data, classifications, attributes, and regulatory information.

• Facilitate the integration of HAZMAT requirements within SAP MM, TM, EWM, SD, and other logistics processes.

• Support Dangerous Goods Management procedures for the transportation and shipment of regulated materials.

• Embed HAZMAT requirements into workflows for material movement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation.

• Convert operational and regulatory requirements into SAP functional requirements and system solutions.

• Create functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, business requirements, and system design documents.

• Identify functional discrepancies and propose SAP-standard solutions, configuration alterations, enhancements, or process refinements.

• Assist with data migration, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation for hazardous material data.

• Engage in SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution.

• Develop test scenarios and validate comprehensive HAZMAT processes across integrated SAP modules.

• Resolve functional issues and collaborate with technical development, integration, security, and infrastructure teams.

• Ensure compliance with federal, DoD, transportation, environmental, and hazardous material regulations and policies.

• Contribute to standard operating procedures, training materials, job aids, and end-user documentation.

• Take part in workshops, design sessions, demonstrations, and customer working groups for implementation and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in supporting SAP functional implementations, sustainment, or modernization initiatives.

• Functional understanding of hazardous materials, Dangerous Goods, regulated materials, or environmental health and safety processes within SAP.

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and/or related SAP logistics functionalities.

• Knowledge of material master data and its connection to logistics, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain processes.

• Experience in collecting business requirements and converting them into SAP functional designs and system configurations.

• Background in supporting functional testing, defect management, and system implementation tasks.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to troubleshoot intricate cross-functional SAP processes.

• Competence in effective collaboration with functional, technical, business, and customer stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear functional and technical documentation.

• Willingness to travel 10% every 12 weeks to Scott Air Force Base.

• Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA Dangerous Goods Management and/or SAP Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) features.

• Experience in integrating HAZMAT processes with SAP TM, MM, EWM, SD, or other logistics modules.

• Understanding of hazardous material classification, labeling, packaging, storage, shipping, and transportation regulations.

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods transportation.

• Experience in supporting SAP data migration or master data management tasks involving regulated materials.

• Previous involvement with DoD, USTRANSCOM, federal logistics, or other large-scale government SAP initiatives.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum or scaled Agile delivery environments.

• SAP certification in a related functional area is preferred but not mandatory.

• Proficient knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, SAP Dangerous Goods Management, SAP EHS/Product Compliance, SAP MM, SAP TM, SAP EWM, SAP SD, material master and HAZMAT master data, Dangerous Goods classification and determination, transportation and shipment documentation, HAZMAT labeling and regulatory information, data migration and validation, SAP functional configuration, functional and integration testing, requirements analysis, and process documentation.
