SAP HAZMAT Functional Resource

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in a large-scale enterprise modernization project that transforms legacy logistics and transportation management systems into a cohesive SAP S/4HANA framework.

• Act as a functional subject matter expert for SAP HAZMAT and Dangerous Goods-related business operations.

• Evaluate customer and program requirements concerning hazardous material identification, classification, storage, handling, movement, transportation, and reporting.

• Aid in the configuration and functional design of SAP capabilities concerning hazardous and regulated materials.

• Oversee and verify HAZMAT master data, classifications, attributes, and regulatory information.

• Facilitate integration across SAP MM, TM, EWM, SD, and additional logistics processes.

• Support Dangerous Goods Management processes for the transportation and shipment of regulated materials.

• Integrate HAZMAT requirements into workflows for movement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation.

• Convert operational and regulatory requirements into SAP functional specifications and system solutions.

• Create functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, business requirements, and system design documentation.

• Identify functional gaps and propose SAP-standard solutions, configuration adjustments, enhancements, or process improvements.

• Assist with hazardous-material data migration, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.

• Engage in SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution activities.

• Develop test scenarios and validate comprehensive HAZMAT processes across integrated SAP modules.

• Diagnose functional issues and collaborate with technical, integration, security, and infrastructure teams.

• Ensure compliance with federal, DoD, transportation, environmental, and hazardous-material regulations and policies.

• Contribute to standard operating procedures, training materials, job aids, and end-user documentation.

• Take part in workshops, design sessions, demonstrations, customer working groups, implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret Clearance.

• Experience in supporting SAP functional implementations, sustainment, or modernization initiatives.

• Functional understanding of hazardous materials, Dangerous Goods, regulated materials, or environmental health and safety processes within SAP.

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and/or related SAP logistics functionalities.

• Knowledge of material master data and its connection to logistics, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain processes.

• Experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into SAP functional designs and system configurations.

• Proficient in supporting functional testing, defect management, and system implementation tasks.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to troubleshoot complex cross-functional SAP processes.

• Capable of effective collaboration with functional, technical, business, and customer stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear functional and technical documentation.

• Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA.

• Knowledge of SAP Dangerous Goods Management.

• Familiarity with SAP EHS / Product Compliance.

• Understanding of SAP Materials Management (MM).

• Experience with SAP Transportation Management (TM).

• Knowledge of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM).

• Familiarity with SAP Sales and Distribution (SD).

• Experience with Material Master and HAZMAT master data.

• Understanding of Dangerous Goods classification and determination.

• Knowledge of transportation and shipment documentation.

• Familiarity with HAZMAT labeling and regulatory information.

• Proficient in data migration and validation.

• Experience with SAP functional configuration.

• Knowledge of functional and integration testing.

• Skills in requirements analysis and process documentation.

• Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving.

• Ability to work with clients to ascertain their needs.

• Preferred: Experience with SAP S/4HANA Dangerous Goods Management and/or SAP EHS capabilities.

• Preferred: Experience integrating HAZMAT processes with SAP TM, MM, EWM, SD, or other logistics modules.

• Preferred: Knowledge of hazardous material classification, labeling, packaging, storage, shipping, and transportation standards.

• Preferred: Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods transportation.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting SAP data migration or master data management activities involving regulated materials.

• Preferred: Previous experience supporting DoD, USTRANSCOM, federal logistics, or other large-scale government SAP programs.

• Preferred: Experience working within Agile/Scrum or scaled Agile delivery environments.

• SAP certification in a relevant functional area is preferred but not mandatory.

• Preferred: Ability to operate within a team environment as well as independently.

• Preferred: Strong skills in customer and vendor relationship management.

• Preferred: Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies.

• Preferred: Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that provide value.

• Preferred: Previous experience working with a Federal government agency.

• Experience with the Department of War is a plus!
