Sales Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct technical discovery to pinpoint customer challenges, assess current architecture, and define desired outcomes.

• Design customized streaming architectures and solutions that align Ververica's platform with customers' data environments.

• Provide product demonstrations and lead proofs of concept that showcase measurable benefits.

• Deliver technical validation to support deals and build customer trust from the initial call to closing.

• Take ownership of the technical narrative in RFPs, security and architecture assessments, and executive presentations.

• Serve as the customer advocate to Product and Engineering, providing field insights to inform the roadmap.

• Create reusable demo assets, reference architectures, and enablement materials.

• Collaborate with Customer Success for smooth handovers and effective paths to production.

• Represent Ververica within the Apache Flink community and at industry events, meetups, and webinars.

• Stay updated on streaming, data, and AI trends and leverage that knowledge for platform positioning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical position.

• Practical knowledge of streaming architectures, distributed data processing, data pipelines, or analytics platforms.

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Understanding of deployment models, including on-premises and BYOC.

• Ability to communicate effectively and credibly with both engineers and executives.

• Proficiency in SQL and comfort with reading or writing code in Java, Scala, Python, or SQL-based streaming dialects.

• Experience in scoping and executing proofs of concept based on customer success criteria.

• Proven ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites and events as required.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, or similar streaming and event processing technologies.

• Preferred: knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Preferred: experience in selling or implementing open-source or open-core software.

• Preferred: familiarity with real-time AI and machine learning applications, including feature pipelines and streaming inference.

• Preferred: domain experience in financial services, gaming, telecommunications, or manufacturing.

• Preferred: experience with data warehouses and lakehouse architectures.
