This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Support and direct the project management team in executing assigned field operations while coordinating the Graycor zero injury safety system for all tasks at the designated project.
• Perform regular and ongoing job inspections, monitor employee work practices across the project to identify potential accident risks, and communicate both positive and negative observations to Project Safety Management;
• Ensure adherence to the elements of the site-specific safety program;
• Provide safety training and conduct job site safety orientations;
• Oversee project safety personnel;
• Engage with customers on safety matters;
• Carry out incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective measures;
• Report compliance with the project safety program to upper management;
• Implement workplace-specific plans as necessary to comply with relevant company policies, contract technical documents, and OSHA regulations.
• Assist in planning and conducting safety-related training activities.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure that tools, equipment, and personnel are safe.
• Facilitate the procurement of safety-related equipment and materials.
• Assist local and state OSHA inspectors during site inspections.
• Conduct periodic safety evaluations and audits of projects, providing feedback on the effectiveness of the safety system.
• Investigate and document injuries and “near misses.”
• Participate in the consistent and proper distribution of all safety information and company safety policy requirements to job site personnel.
• Ensure that injured employees receive appropriate first aid and necessary subsequent medical care.
• Promptly report any willful violations of safety policy or instructions by any Company employee to the Project Safety Manager, and fully document such incidents.
• Immediately cease any job site activity that is deemed to pose an imminent hazard to personnel or property, and inform both the Project Manager and Safety Manager.
• Ensure that any employee suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol is removed from work activities and reported to the Project Manager and Safety Manager.
• Provide recommendations for management's review and potential implementation.
• May perform the responsibilities of a Safety Representative and undertake additional duties as assigned.
• A minimum of five years of experience in safety engineering or a related field
• Experience in both construction management and direct hire projects is essential.
• Willingness to relocate to the project site for the project's duration, which typically ranges from 6 to 24 months.
• Occasional overnight travel to other facilities of industrial clients may be necessary.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel);
• Strong report writing skills are required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills are essential;
• Ability to lead training sessions or meetings with a large group of craft and staff employees.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage with client representatives, project managers, and superintendents are required.
