This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Manage safety activities on construction sites across various ongoing projects operating under an OCIP program.
• Travel to designated construction locations to perform routine safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, OCIP requirements, and specific safety standards for each project.
• Identify potential safety hazards and collaborate with contractors to implement timely corrective measures.
• Conduct daily safety assessments of ongoing work and confirm compliance with established safety protocols.
• Prepare and disseminate daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports, inspection results, and compliance documentation.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and recordable injuries, while contributing to corrective actions and prevention strategies.
• Engage in project meetings to provide safety guidance, recommendations, and compliance updates.
• Assist during OSHA inspections and regulatory interactions as necessary.
• Confirm completion of mandatory safety training, including new hire orientation and ongoing tailgate meetings.
• Facilitate safety stand-downs and reinforce safe work practices following incidents or significant safety occurrences.
• Encourage continuous improvement through coaching, education, and proactive risk management initiatives.
• Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy construction safety is required.
• Certification as a Certified Hazardous Materials Safety Technician (CHST) is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety practices, and compliance requirements is essential.
• Experience in supporting or managing Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in conducting construction site inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations is required.
• Willingness to travel frequently between active construction project sites is essential.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Capacity to manage multiple active construction projects and priorities simultaneously is crucial.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting documentation is required.
