This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversees and manages an efficient health and safety program while offering advice and support to the Project Team regarding Health & Safety matters.
• Comprehends and applies Health & Safety regulations and processes to project workflows.
• Executes general administrative tasks and recordkeeping duties, which include: reviewing subcontractors’ safety programs, maintaining inventory for all hazardous materials, first aid supplies, and personal protective equipment utilized on site, reporting and tracking incidents and near misses, and managing and filing confidential documents.
• Produces clear and timely “Flash Reports” and engages in thorough, fact-driven investigations and management of incidents.
• Implements client and IDL Health and Safety Programs under the guidance of the H&S Manager.
• Participates in safety meetings related to the project.
• Supplies safety materials for daily Tool Box meetings and has the capability to lead these and other safety discussions.
• Involved in the creation and refinement of Safe Work Practices and Job Hazard Assessments.
• Conducts regular facility inspections and safety audits to assess safe work practices and procedures, prepares inspection reports, and ensures corrective measures are enacted when deficiencies are identified.
• Works collaboratively with the Project Manager and Safety Manager to ensure health and safety programs adhere to legislative requirements.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a full-time Health and Safety position.
• Experience in the Industrial Construction sector is preferred.
• Accreditation as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is advantageous.
• Prior experience in remote construction, industrial, mining, energy, or infrastructure projects is regarded as a strong asset.
• Relevant post-secondary degrees, diplomas, and certifications in Health & Safety are beneficial.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Word and Excel.
• Self-assured in taking initiative and capable of meeting deadlines.
• Exceptional communication skills and confidence in engaging with key contacts both verbally, in writing, and through electronic means.
