Ruby on Rails Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain features within a contemporary Rails codebase.

• Take ownership of background and asynchronous workflows, encompassing retries, idempotency, throughput, and observability.

• Model, query, and enhance data storage in PostgreSQL.

• Diagnose and resolve production issues in partnership with product and support teams.

• Enhance system reliability, performance, and operational safety.

• Contribute to the long-term health of the codebase through refactoring, improving testing practices, implementing security measures, and conducting thorough code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• C1 English proficiency or its equivalent.

• Senior-level, hands-on experience in building and managing production Ruby on Rails applications.

• Strong expertise in background job systems and asynchronous processing, with practical operational experience.

• Proficient in designing and querying relational data models in PostgreSQL, with a focus on indexing and performance optimization.

• Experience in building external-facing APIs that include authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.

• Strong testing discipline along with experience in diagnosing flaky or non-deterministic tests.

• A security-focused mindset in application design and production operations.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-growth startup environments.

• Experience in developing products utilizing LLMs or LLM-based agents (experience with LangChain is a plus).

• Experience in training AI models: creating and refining datasets, establishing training pipelines, and setting evaluation benchmarks.

• Experience in developing tools for code generation or code editing.

• A collaborative attitude with a proven track record of positively influencing and enhancing development processes.

• Nice to Have: Email and Deliverability Domain

• Familiarity with the Xero or QuickBooks APIs.

• General knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting domains.

• Comfort in responsibly utilizing AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, and test coverage.
