• Promptly respond to video and audio interpreting sessions while conducting interpretations in a courteous and professional manner.
• Engage in online training sessions for video and audio interpretation.
• Provide interpretation services through video while efficiently typing data on designated devices such as laptops, desktops, mobile phones, or tablets to fulfill job functions.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, avoiding any omissions or additions.
• Communicate clearly in both languages, utilizing proper pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Uphold a professional demeanor during all video and audio interpreting sessions consistently.
• Maintain composure during interpreting sessions, especially if one of the primary speakers appears incoherent or upset, particularly in emergency scenarios such as 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during designated working hours.
• Adhere to client directives, complying with protocols to meet client expectations when working with Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP), and refrain from interacting with the LEP without the client's consent.
• Familiarize oneself with protocol and terminology across various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show a commitment to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse work environment.
• Proficiency in both Romanian and English, along with an understanding of the related cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent variations to effectively communicate with the LEP.
• Outstanding listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure a high degree of accuracy during interpretations.
• Ability to focus, remain detached from conversations, and maintain neutrality and objectivity, especially on calls involving sensitive topics such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Preferred education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation.
• Must be able to adapt to any LLS technology improvements that enhance service delivery and meet client needs.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
