• Offer the Underwriter insights regarding account specifics related to hazards, controls, and management.
• Assess how a company recognizes and manages its inherent risk factors.
• Distinguish the account from others in similar business categories.
• Maintain a steady field presence, dedicating approximately 20% - 50% of the time onsite with clients.
• Traveling to clients may require long-distance, overnight travel, and/or multi-night trips based on business needs and alignment with territory and/or geography.
• Collaborate with Underwriting to select, retain, and expand a profitable business portfolio.
• Cultivate and sustain effective relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to serve clients as a cohesive team.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessment evaluations across multiple/diverse businesses with high complexity, including manufacturing, large warehouse operations with challenging property, products liability exposures with potential for severe losses, and significant multi-location and fleet exposures.
• Draft technically detailed reports that clearly convey risk assessments and effectively communicate recommendations.
• Identify and analyze customer needs through loss analysis and readiness to provide Risk Control products and services that aid in loss management.
• Recognize uncontrolled exposures to motivate clients toward improvements and corrective actions to reduce potential losses.
• Deliver solutions to assist clients in risk mitigation using our broad range of resources.
• Stay updated with technical subjects, regulatory changes, and emerging challenges.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in specialty areas (such as Fleet, Sprinkler Contractor, Inland Marine, Industrial Hygiene, Human Factors & Ergonomics) to support the broader team in conducting "Level of Expertise" consultations.
• Create a valuable customer experience with each assessment and service interaction.
• Capable of maintaining core Senior RCC responsibilities while undertaking higher-level project work that impacts the Risk Control organization or Travelers enterprise.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or related technical fields.
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and strong business acumen.
• Relevant certifications (such as ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS) are recognized.
• Technical proficiency and attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with others.
• Experience in a collaborative work environment.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Influencing abilities that effectively drive business requirements.
• Skills in negotiating change to achieve the best outcomes.
• Capability to provide and receive coaching and feedback.
• Seven years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field such as occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must possess or be able to acquire appropriate certification to meet state-specific requirements, where applicable.
