This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +4 more states.
• Assess internal valuations and residential or commercial appraisals for thoroughness, precision, methodology, credibility, and substantiation.
• Independently evaluate and verify valuation conclusions utilizing market data and other pertinent information.
• Identify unsupported assumptions, calculation errors, outdated data, weak comparables, excessive modifications, omissions, and other appraisal shortcomings.
• Return deficient reports for correction, clarification, or additional evidence.
• Formulate independent recommendations regarding property and collateral value.
• Advise on acceptance, modification, rejection, or further inquiry into valuation conclusions.
• Draft written summaries outlining findings, risks, and suggested values.
• Present valuation recommendations to investment, asset resolution, and credit review committees.
• Articulate valuation methodology, assumptions, market data, and collateral risks to management and committee members.
• Suggest additional appraisals, inspections, environmental assessments, engineering studies, or other analyses as needed.
• Review the work of junior analysts, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Manage complex or unusual properties, including commercial, mixed-use, distressed, or conflicting valuation scenarios.
• Maintain appraisal review policies, templates, checklists, escalation procedures, and quality control standards.
• Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, litigation, loan sales, foreclosure decisions, and property disposition strategies.
• Collaborate with the SVP of Asset Management, VP of Valuation, Valuation Team Lead, and Valuation Team Members.
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related discipline.
• Over 7 years of experience in real estate appraisal, appraisal review, collateral valuation, underwriting, credit, asset management, or a similar field.
• Proven experience in reviewing both residential and commercial real estate appraisals.
• In-depth knowledge of the sales comparison, income capitalization, and cost methodologies.
• Experience in evaluating comparable selection, market adjustments, income and expense assumptions, capitalization rates, highest and best use considerations, and value reconciliation.
• Experience with distressed, transitional, nonperforming, foreclosed, or complex real estate.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
• Capacity to exercise independent judgment and challenge unsupported valuation conclusions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, public records, property databases, listing platforms, mapping systems, and market research tools.
• State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser credential.
• MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, ASA, MRICS, or another recognized appraisal designation.
• Stable and reliable internet connection.
• Professional and dedicated remote working setup.
• Familiarity with USPAP and applicable appraisal independence and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with Excel, public property records, MLS/listing data, mapping tools, commercial real estate databases, and valuation research resources.
• Base salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000.
