Reverse Mortgage Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Underwrites residential loans while ensuring adherence to company policies, secondary market investor standards, and all relevant laws.

• Reviews loan documentation for precision and thoroughness.

• Collaborates with Loan Originators, Branch Managers, and Processors to obtain all necessary documents.

• Accountable for underwriting files and setting conditions that align with FHA and LBF guidelines.

• Capable of making prompt and accurate decisions on all FHA transactions.

• Assesses risk and ensures the quality of each loan decision.

• Clearly communicates requirements and/or decisions.

• Examines all aspects of the mortgage loan file to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

• Works alongside processing to close loans efficiently and in a timely manner.

• Complies with service level agreements and prioritizes workflow effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years of active experience in underwriting Reverse Mortgages (Retail and/or Wholesale).

• Experience with HECM for Purchase is advantageous.

• Must possess a valid active CHUMS Number.

• Strong skills in credit, risk analysis, and analytics.

• Knowledge of federal and state regulations and requirements, focusing on MDA, TILA, HUD, and RESPA reform.

• Familiarity with the loan flow process, including file structure and documentation requirements.

• Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals, work under pressure while meeting deadlines, and adapt to evolving situations on a daily basis.

• Knowledgeable about HUD underwriting guidelines, mortgage legal documentation, third-party risk assessment products, and compliance regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
