This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Offers commercial collections assistance to Patient Financial Services, undertaking responsibilities that may involve reviewing and resubmitting claims to third-party payors, conducting account follow-up activities, and updating account information, among others.
β’ Engages in departmental meetings and provides management with insights on enhancing departmental processes.
β’ Complies with the department's documentation standards and appropriately utilizes activity codes. Accurately inputs data in designated fields while maintaining acceptable levels of speed and precision.
β’ Diligently oversees assigned work queues and workload, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of accounts. Takes proactive steps on issues and/or challenges by elevating them to a supervisor.
β’ Demonstrates exemplary standards of professionalism, responsibility, accountability, and ethical conduct.
β’ Processes incoming correspondence swiftly and accurately, based on reason codes.
β’ Ensures that account information is complete and accurate.
β’ Follows payment timeline protocols and supports fellow team members with account resolutions when necessary.
β’ Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of Cedars-Sinaiβs core patient accounting systems and/or department-specific systems, utilizing them effectively and efficiently.
β’ A high school diploma or GED is mandatory. College-level courses in finance, business, or health insurance are advantageous.
β’ At least four years of experience in hospital or professional billing and/or collections is required.
β’ Experience with hospital account follow-up involving commercial payers is essential.
β’ Basic computer proficiency and navigation skills are necessary. Familiarity with MS Office, Web/Vs, Emdeon, and CS-Link is preferred.
β’ A working knowledge and understanding of regulatory and CSHS policies and procedures is preferred.
β’ Basic understanding of HIPAA and other privacy information guidelines is preferred.
β’ Capability to perform relevant business mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
β’ Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with competing demands on time and attention. Prioritizes and organizes work to complete assignments promptly and accurately.
