This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +3 more states.
• Oversee the effective retail execution of McCormick and regional initiatives via broker sales teams, driving the achievement of regional sales and profit goals.
• Provide training to sales managers and third-party managers on the execution of retail activities within designated areas.
• Educate broker retail and third-party managers in assigned regions on McCormick products, policies, and expectations related to in-store retail execution.
• Lead broker retail management for assigned calls, ensuring swift introduction of new items to shelves and overseeing merchandising activities.
• Act as the principal voice for sales regarding retail execution, assessment, and enhancements to brokers.
• Serve as the key communication link with brokers and other third-party retail field managers (and local management) about McCormick’s expectations for store coverage, retail call content, merchandising standards, new item introductions, and competitive activity reporting.
• Analyze broker activities performed during assigned calls, including new item shelf placement and merchandising efforts.
• Conduct regular retail training store visits, setting expectations, and outlining plans for broker and third-party management as well as sales teams regarding in-store execution.
• Engage in retail planning for both broker and McCormick direct sales by effectively conveying retail expectations, execution, and results at the Regional VP, Director, and Manager levels.
• Spearhead the planning and execution of quarterly retail broker meetings, including the development of presentations.
• Coordinate and implement regular retail coverage team meetings with brokers and third-party providers to ensure a consistent seasonal focus on McCormick’s diverse product lines and to motivate retail coverage teams for enhanced sales outcomes in stores.
• Responsible for planning retail quarterly audits and conducting market audit tours.
• Carry out regular retail store audits and coordinate market audit blitz programs as directed, ensuring awareness of evolving market, customer, and competitive conditions to serve as a resource for marketing, sales, and promotional planning, ensuring brokers and third-party providers understand current goals and are aligned in delivering expected in-store results.
• Oversee the execution of McCormick programs within retail management.
• Identify retail opportunities aimed at increasing sales.
• Assist the Director of Retail Operations and Training in pinpointing retail gaps and opportunities for enhanced business performance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in sales and/or analytics with a solid understanding of product merchandising, consumer and trade promotional strategies, as well as knowledge of retailers and markets.
• 2+ years of experience working with food brokers, including understanding their systems and business processes.
• Strong analytical skills (including interpretation) and project management capabilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of procedures and concepts within Sales, Retail Food Broker sales operations, and extensive knowledge of retail merchandising standards and objectives.
• In-depth knowledge of how Sales integrates with brokers and the retail environment; familiarity with the industry, brokers, third-party selling agents, and market operations.
• Expert knowledge of McCormick’s product offerings.
• Ability to identify retail business opportunities effectively.
• Knowledge of retail store operations, merchandising, and the retail industry.
• Competence in filtering, prioritizing, analyzing, and validating complex information to formulate strategies.
• Strong problem-solving skills are essential for managing ongoing retail broker KPIs (Speed to shelf, calls made/assigned, Merchandising).
• Excellent leadership, presentation, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
• Strong strategic and creative thinking abilities.
