This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Lead the execution of ecological monitoring plans for OMP restoration initiatives throughout Ohio.
• Create scopes of work, solicit bids, and establish contracts for monitoring services.
• Operate within monitoring budgets and assist in contractor selection and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate, supervise, and ensure quality assurance for contractors and consultants.
• Conduct regular site assessments across Ohio to evaluate the success of restoration projects and identify potential issues.
• Gather piezometer data, troubleshoot data loggers, and capture photographs at project monitoring locations.
• Analyze monitoring data and compile reports in collaboration with Restoration Ecologists.
• Perform field-based ecological assessments to aid in project planning, compliance, and adaptive management.
• Implement OMP operations, regulatory standards, and performance benchmarks to align monitoring with project and program objectives.
• Collaborate with Restoration Ecologists to propose adaptive management strategies and corrective measures.
• Assist with limited restoration stewardship and adaptive management activities, including targeted invasive species removal and supplemental planting.
• Work in conjunction with OMP personnel, TNC staff, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Ohio EPA, Ohio Interagency Review Team, and other stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in natural resource management or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in technical writing.
• Proven ability to complete tasks independently while adhering to timelines.
• Strong communication skills in written, verbal, and graphical formats in English.
• Familiarity with common software applications, including Word, Excel, and internet browsers.
• Experience in managing staff, volunteers, or contractors.
• Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.
• Understanding of land management conservation practices and conservation science.
• Experience in contract preparation, contractor oversight, and management of contracts and budgets.
• History of working within project budgets.
• Experience conducting or interpreting stream geomorphological surveys, stream biology assessments, wetland delineations, and vegetation evaluations, or a willingness to learn.
• Ability to recognize Ohio’s common flora and fauna.
• Experience in managing invasive plant species and/or restoring native forests.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ESRI GIS/Field Maps software, RiverMorph, and GPS technologies.
• Compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program and completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a motor vehicle record review.
