This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and execution of People Powered's global fundraising strategy aligned with the upcoming 3-year strategic plan and beyond.

• Broaden the organization's funding sources through foundations, governments, multilateral institutions, philanthropic entities, and strategic partnerships.

• Set fundraising priorities, targets, KPIs, and systems to facilitate sustainable growth of the organization.

• Keep track of global and regional philanthropic trends and pinpoint emerging funding opportunities that align with the mission.

• Discover avenues for collective fundraising efforts, joint initiatives, and consortium bids.

• Represent People Powered in strategic external engagements, conferences, and funding spaces.

• Foster strategic relationships to enhance organizational visibility and secure long-term funding prospects.

• Ensure alignment of fundraising efforts with organizational strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director, Fundraising Manager, and senior leadership.

• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with major institutional funders and philanthropic partners in the US, Europe, and beyond.

• Lead strategies for cultivating significant multi-year grants and strategic partnerships.

• Oversee the preparation of competitive funding proposals, concept notes, and donor reports.

• Design fundable programs and strategic initiatives in cooperation with the team.

• Enhance grant management, pipeline development, and donor stewardship systems.

• Assist People Powered members in accessing fundraising opportunities and creating joint funding initiatives.

• Create fundraising tools and processes while conducting fundraising training and workshops.

• Mentor colleagues and promote fundraising as a shared responsibility within the organization.

• Develop and oversee fundraising budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.

• Manage collaborative fundraising efforts through consortia, partnerships, and strategic alliances.

• Evaluate fundraising performance and suggest strategic modifications as needed.

• Improve systems related to grant management, reporting, and tracking.

• Oversee fundraising staff, systems, occasional consultants, and external partnerships.

• Contribute to planning, decision-making, and fostering organizational culture within the senior leadership team.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in leading institutional fundraising and resource mobilization for international nonprofit organizations, global social movements, alliances, or member-led organizations.

• Proven expertise in fundraising for democracy, governance, civic engagement, human rights, or social justice initiatives.

• Established ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders through alliances, consortia, strategic initiatives, and joint funding partnerships.

• Demonstrated success in securing and managing multi-year institutional grants ranging from six to seven figures in USD/EUR from US and international foundations, governments, or multilateral donors.

• Experience in developing and implementing multi-year organizational fundraising strategies.

• Strong network of relationships with US and international funders, along with the ability to cultivate new funding partnerships.

• Proficient financial planning, budgeting, and project management skills.

• Experience in building organizational fundraising capacity and mentoring colleagues and partners.

• Previous experience in line management or supervising staff or teams.

• Excellent skills in relationship management, negotiation, and communication.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Commitment to the mission and vision of People Powered.

• Desirable: familiarity with the EU funding landscape or experience in obtaining funding from European Union programs, including Horizon Europe or CERV.

• Desirable: professional proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese.

• Desirable: experience living or working across various regions, particularly in the Global Majority.
