This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.
• Observes and documents the construction of municipal water and wastewater projects, which may include horizontal construction, new treatment plant construction, and/or rehabilitation work.
• Monitors and reports on the contractor's compliance with standards, specifications, design drawings, and permits.
• Reviews contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation, providing necessary comments, coordinating reviews, and recording as needed.
• Observes construction activities to ensure adherence to the contract and site procedures, tracks activities for payment reviews, and prepares progress reports.
• Ensures that construction aligns with approved current standards and specifications.
• Observes and photographs ongoing construction work.
• Identifies and reports any improprieties and deficiencies.
• Maintains a field log documenting daily events.
• Tracks and quantifies construction items on a daily basis.
• Monitors the project schedule.
• Coordinates and schedules subconsultants as necessary.
• Proactively communicates and maintains consistent contact with all stakeholders.
• Prepares written progress reports.
• Observes and records material and equipment tests, as well as equipment startup procedures.
• Reviews and offers recommendations for submittals, pay estimates for contractors, proposed change orders, and documentation required by funding and regulatory agencies.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Must possess prior relevant experience, including over 3 years of construction/field observation experience.
• EIT/PE certification is a plus.
• Capability to effectively communicate with engineers, project managers, owners, and contractor superintendents.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Understanding of construction processes, means, and methods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while observing and documenting field conditions or critical construction operations at active sites.
• A valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and reliable transportation are mandatory.
