Research Scientist – Education Data Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on research proposals related to education data systems.

• Develop studies utilizing state longitudinal data systems (SLDS) along with integrated K-12, postsecondary, and workforce data.

• Collaborate with state education agencies regarding data access, data-sharing agreements, and the research application of data.

• Oversee analysis, ensure data security, maintain privacy (FERPA), and uphold human-subjects (IRB) protections.

• Compose research narratives, methodologies, and dissemination strategies.

• Provide qualifications and previous performance narratives for WIL proposals when you grant permission for naming.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading education research that utilizes administrative or longitudinal education data.

• Familiarity with working alongside state education agencies or with state longitudinal data systems.

• Proficiency in quantitative skills (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, or Python) and in applying causal or descriptive methodologies.

• Understanding of FERPA, data-sharing agreements, and IRB protocols.

• Ability to work comfortably as a project-based contract collaborator in a remote capacity within the US.
