Release Train Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Negotiate, plan, and oversee all release activities.

• Coordinate release content and efforts based on the service request backlog, outstanding service requests, third-party applications, or operating system updates.

• Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews.

• Create Deployment, Run Books, and Implementation Plans.

• Provide weekly Release Reporting and communicate release details and schedules.

• Develop scripts and automation tools for building, integrating, and deploying software releases across various platforms.

• Supply tools and services to assist product management and project teams in managing and deploying releases into production.

• Attend daily stand-ups with Development Teams.

• Serve as a pseudo–Scrum Master, facilitating daily stand-ups and sprint planning.

• Act as the point of contact for ticket blockers and coordinate release timing.

• Monitor and report on the status and prioritization of development tickets.

• Follow up with Development teams on status if updates are not being applied promptly to Jira tickets.

• Handle all escalations from Development teams to ensure that development impacts do not delay or affect larger program timelines.

• Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope modifications.

• Manage relationships and coordinate work among different teams across various locations.

• Regularly communicate development status to program and project managers.

• Coordinate defect remediation during testing by organizing calls and driving towards a solution.

• Prepare the roadmap and proactively plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio.

• Manage risks and address issues that impact release scope, schedule, and quality.

• Measure and monitor release progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed expectations.

• Exhibit strong cross-functional abilities between Development and Business teams.

• Implement and manage release processes for code throughout development, test, and production environments.

• Collaborate with all participants in software development projects and support developers and testers in setting up their build development/test environments.

• Enhance software engineering processes and practices related to the continuous building, deploying, and updating of software and environments.

• Build the release calendar by working closely with Release Managers from various portfolios and centralizing the view of all releases. Lead the effort to define the strategic direction for release management tools to ensure that the process requirements of release management are incorporated.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5-7 years of prior release and project management experience, with a solid understanding of formal project management principles preferred.

• At least 3 years of previous exposure to the Scrum Master role.

• Scrum Master Certification is mandatory.

• Experience in the telecommunications industry is preferred.

• Advanced understanding of the software development lifecycle and requirements documentation.

• Proven ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional work teams.

• Demonstrated leadership and analytical skills.

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Proficiency in Advanced Excel, PPT, JIRA, Clarity, and Smartsheet is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is necessary.
