Release Manager – DevOps, Enterprise Platforms

Posted 6 days ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Manage the release calendar for relevant products, ensuring coordination of timing, dependencies, and stakeholder communication across APAC and EMEA teams.

• Conduct release readiness reviews and facilitate go/no-go decisions, confirming that acceptance criteria, test evidence, security approvals, and operational runbooks are finalized prior to deployment.

• Carry out deployments to both staging and production environments, which includes coordinating pre- and post-release validations, smoke testing, and rollback procedures if necessary.

• Operate and enhance CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), aiming to minimize manual processes and lead times for changes.

• Lead change management in accordance with ITIL practices and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11), ensuring a comprehensive and audit-ready release record is maintained.

• Oversee hotfix and emergency change processes, including incident-driven releases, while safeguarding overall system stability.

• Assist in maintaining healthy lower environments (dev, QA, staging) by managing availability, configuration consistency, and refresh schedules.

• Monitor and report on release metrics such as deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery (DORA metrics).

• Serve as the regional release contact for APAC and EMEA stakeholders, clearly escalating risks and decisions in a timely manner.

• Document release processes, runbooks, and lessons learned, while sharing best practices with engineering teams across regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• 4–6 years of professional experience in software engineering, DevOps, or release management, with a minimum of 2 years in a release-centric role.

• Practical experience with modern CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and version control systems (Git).

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with containerized deployments (Docker; Kubernetes is a plus).

• Proven experience coordinating releases across various teams and environments, including managing downstream dependencies.

• Hands-on knowledge of change management frameworks (ITIL) and experience releasing in audit-controlled settings.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating technical risks into clear business language for stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed team, with the flexibility to accommodate APAC or EMEA working hours.

• Must be based in and authorized to work in an APAC or EMEA country.
